Farewell Stockholm

The Volvo Open 70 boats have left Sandhamn and are battling it out on Leg 10 of the 400 nautical mile stretch to St Petersburg. Puma, Ericsson 4 and Telefonica Blue had a strong start.

• Final press conference with the skippers in Stockholm 2009-06-24 Tomorrow sees the start of the final stage of the Volvo Ocean Race when the boats will undertake leg 10 to St Petersburg. The skippers were assembled for a final press conference in Stockholm, and the atmosphere was light-hearted.
• Starting Line moved: Leg 10 starts in Sandhamn 2009-06-23 Public interest is too great. That is why Volvo Ocean Race organisers have decided to move the starting line of Leg 10, Stockholm to St Petersburg, on 25 June at 2:00 pm from Kanholmsfjärden to the southeast side of Sandhamn.
• Team Russia has arrived! 2009-06-23 On Tuesday night the eigth Volvo Open 70 yacht arrived at Skeppsbron in Stockholm. Team Russia is back after a long break from the race, to sail the final leg to the finish in St Petersburg on Thursday 25 June.
• Victor the Seagull does the moonwalk at Skeppsbron 2009-06-23 Volvo Ocean Race's very own mascot, Victor the Seagull, is now at the Race Village to mingle with visitors. “I will do a moonwalk for everyone that comes and says hello,” he says.
• Celebrity Race today 2009-06-23 Mixed teams of celebrities, veteran and junior sailors and entrepreneurs will be challenging each other in the sailing competition Celebrity Race on Tuesday 23 June during the Stockholm Stopover.
• Team Russia back in the race 2009-06-23 Team Russia is on its way to Stockholm to take part in the leg 10 to St Petersburg. “The boat must undergo an inspection to make sure it is in full compliance with safety requirements,” says Rikard Björk, Press Officer for the Stockholm Stopover.
• Telefonica Blue won Stockholm In-Port Race 2009-06-21 Telefonica Blue won today’s In-Port Race at Kanholmsfjärden. Stockholm offered beautiful weather and an estimated 5000 boats were there to watch the race.
