Team Russia is on its way to Stockholm to take part in the leg 10 to St Petersburg. “The boat must undergo an inspection to make sure it is in full compliance with safety requirements,” says Rikard Björk, Press Officer for the Stockholm Stopover.
Team Russia is expected to arrive on Tuesday evening. The team had to withdraw in the Singapore leg of the race due to insufficient funds, and has since been trying to source the funding to be able to resume the race.
Team Russia's new skipper, Stig Westergaard from Denmark, said that everyone in the team was delighted to be able to see the race to its completion in St. Petersburg.
Team Russia is currently on its way from Gothenburg and will be stopping in Sandhamn before continuing onto Skeppsbron and its mooring berth at Race Village.
